Use Tax Rebate Program

Businesses who participate in City of Santa Clarita’s Use Tax Rebate Program can receive a rebate in two different ways:

  • Receive a cash rebate up to 25% of the additional Use Tax remitted to the City of Santa Clarita
  • Receive a business expansion credit to be used for City permit fees equal to 45% of the additional Use Tax remitted to the City of Santa Clarita

Any business that has made purchases subject to Use Tax in the amount of $500,000 in a 12-month period prior to permit application can qualify!

Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ)

The RMDZ program was created to provide low-interest loans to eligible businesses using secondary (post-consumer or post-industrial) waste materials to manufacture new products or that reduce the waste resulting from the manufacturing of a product.

The RMDZ program can fund a maximum of 75 percent of costs directly attributed to an eligible project, up to a maximum of $2 million dollars.

California Employment Hiring Credit

The New Employment Credit (NEC) took effect on January 2, 2014 and will be in effect until January 1, 2026. Employers are reimbursed 35% of qualified wages through the NEC.

City of Santa Clarita Film Incentive Program (FIP)

The FIP is aimed at retaining and increasing feature and television production in the City of Santa Clarita (City) and the Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) by subsidizing permit fees, in addition to reducing costs of safety personnel as possible.

Since the FIP’s inception, more than $801,000 has been refunded to over 275 locally-based, recurring, and CA Film & Television Tax Credit Program approved qualifying projects, and productions have saved more than $445,000 on Sheriff services.
