One Valley, One Vision

In June of 2011, the City of Santa Clarita adopted a new General Plan commonly known as One Valley One Vision (OVOV). The creation of this plan was a joint effort between the County of Los Angeles, the City of Santa Clarita and Valley residents and businesses. The intent was to create a single vision within the County and City’s jurisdictions for future growth of the Valley and the preservation of natural resources valley wide. The Planning Area (PA) includes the City and its four communities: Canyon Country, Newhall, Saugus and Valencia and the County communities of Stevenson Ranch, Castaic, Val Verde, Agua Dulce and the future Newhall Ranch.

In 1987, the City of Santa Clarita became the largest area to incorporate in the state of California. At just 39 square miles back then, the new City included the communities of Saugus, Newhall, Valencia and Canyon Country.
