Santa Clarita was identified as the sixth highest valued city in Los Angeles County in an annual report released by the Los Angeles County Office of the Assessor.
Los Angeles County Assessor Jeffrey Prang released the 2016 Annual Report Thursday, which includes the assessed value of all taxable real property and business personal property in the county.
“The 2016 Annual Report will help the public easily find information about Assessor operations and major accomplishments, how property values in their city changed in the last year, and much more,” Prang said in a press release.
Los Angeles County experienced a 5.58 percent growth this year with 2.6 million properties valued at $1.3 trillion, making the 2016 Assessment Roll is the largest in the county’s history, according to the report.
In Santa Clarita, property was valued at $28.7 billion based on 68.446 properties. The 2016 assessments worth increased by 5 percent over the past year, or by approximately $1.36 billion.
Taxes collected help fund school districts, special districts, incorporated cities, unincorporated areas within the county. Successor agencies also derive property tax revenue used to fund public services.
